Our Story

Loving Literacy and More… is the fulfillment of Cathy Jones’ 2006 dream to launch a place of passionate, dedicated educators who address all disciplines and grade levels: pre-school through 12th grade. With a heart to empower and equip all students to become life long, curious learners and contributing members of society, our educators are either California credentialed, or have Masters Degrees in Education, or in their specific discipline. As master teachers, each demonstrates a love of learning, which is focused on opening doors of the mind to light the spark of educational excellence in all of their students.

My Story

Our Mission

Loving Literacy and More…is grounded in the recognition and celebration of individual differences, embracing the diversity of learning styles by offering an individualized approach that promotes success for each student. With an enrichment based philosophy across all spectrums of achievement, we challenge the highly gifted and talented student, the grade level achiever, and the reluctant learner that has yet to reach his or her potential. We are committed to devising a curriculum that is responsive to a child’s individual learning style and complexity as we strive to promote intellectual curiosity.

Educators

Our educators are passionate, experienced, California credentialed teachers with advanced training, many with Masters degrees.In order to meet and exceed the needs of each student, our master teachers scaffold skills in such a way that they inspire a love of learning, equipping each student with the ability to be a lifelong learner. Beyond strengthening a student’s academic skills, each teacher is intent on building a relationship based on encouragement and motivation to improve the student’s performance. Additionally, we emphasize a collaborative team approach between the parents, school, and educator with a focus on clear communication to address the student’s learning style. As a committed group of educators, we embrace the diversity of learning styles by offering an individual approach that promotes student success.

Educator of the Month

“Over the past 15 years of teaching/tutoring students in Math and Science, my underlying thread has always been to create an individualized education plan for my students, not just to get them prepared for the upcoming test, but to set them up with a lifetime path of success. I firmly believe that this comes from constantly working with the student to review the fundamentals, in order to master their current curriculum , and preview the upcoming topics. I have had the pleasure of working with students from all the local public and private schools, and because of this, I understand what most schools, and teachers, stress in their curriculum. This knowledge serves as a guide to being sure that the prerequisite subjects have been mastered before my students begin their course work. As we work one-on-one, or in semi-private lessons, directed at the high school curriculum, or the SAT subject tests, or ACT/SAT test prep, I have the opportunity to learn my students’ strengths and weaknesses, as well as their learning style. This way, I can create a personally tailored learning environment that maximizes their learning, retention, and efficiency.”
